Common sense tells us to take caution with a Metal Tiger. Follow the path cleared by this pure yang qi rather than confront a Crouching Tiger. The Tiger has the characteristic of vibrant wood, reaching upwards, benevolent but the warrior like qi of Yang metal from heaven may suppress this growth. It would be good to have water to bridge the fierce metal and wood. It is always good to have your home thoroughly cleaned before the New Year and my favorite, do not cook in your kitchen for a day or two at the New Year.

There are two areas of your home and work place you will want to pay special attention to this year:

Southwest – Do not do any major projects in the southwest nor disturb the earth in the southwest with digging. Keep this area as quiet as possible and place a metal cure here. No moving water in the southwest.

Recommended Metal cures are:

  • Play the sound of the Tibetan Singing bowl for an immediate, powerful Feng Shui metal cure: http://www.mindfulnessdc.org/bell/index.html

  • Fill the home with a sacred sound such as beautiful piano music. If you own a piano, play it everyday. Else play a CD of beautiful piano music or Tibetan gongs or singing bowls, preferably the color of gold. Play it continuously when you leave the home and notice the welcoming peacefulness awaiting your return. Make sure the sound is heard in the southwest sector.

  • A chiming clock such as a grandfather clock is a wonderful asset to a home if it has a deep resonating sound such as the Westminster chime.

  • Northeast – Place a calabash in the northeast for the annual sickness energy found here.
  • To purchase a calabash from a gifted gourd artist, contact Karen Caldwell at 708-448-5298 and/or visit her website HERE.

  • Article written by Master Joseph Yu explaining the effect of the calabash as powerful Feng Shui cure to rid illness HERE.

A few more general things you can do to enhance the qi flow in your home are:

      • Do not have a tree, pole or any obstruction directly in line of your front door. This feature is called, Heart Piercing Sha. There will be serious health blockages especially for the heart.
      • Open all doors and windows when the weather permits.
      • Keep doorways free from clutter.
      • Take special care where water features such as a fountain, pond, aquarium even a swimming pool are placed. Make sure you know the area has energy that will inspire you rather than work against you. The book, Complete Idiot’s Guide to Feng Shui can assist you or you can call me. Water is more powerful than you know!
      • The above goes the same with the color red, which holds strong fire energy.
      • It is always good to have your Feng Shui updated for yearly changes.

Hold on tight to the tail of the Tiger!
